Transparency – Trust – Together
“Practical Experience for Bear Lake County As a business owner in Geneva, I’ve spent over a
decade solving ‘real world’ problems. From managing employees to competing in the global
marketplace, I’ve learned that a leader’s primary job is to serve their customers.
In Bear Lake County, you are the customer.
I am running for District 2 Commissioner to bring transparency and a business-minded approach to
our local government. I don’t believe in ‘can’t,’ and I don’t believe in pandering or empty promises. I believe in listening, working hard, and delivering results for the families who live and work here.
Politics can be brutal, but I promise you this: no gaslighting and no empty promises. I support the
Idaho GOP Platform and the relentless ‘never give up’ spirit of President Donald J. Trump. If you want business as usual, I’m not your guy. if you want a Commissioner who views public service as a
commitment to the people, I’m ready to get to work.”
- Transparency & Public Access
The Goal: Moving government business from behind closed doors to the public square.
– Evening Sessions: I will advocate for Commissioner meetings to be held at times when
working families can actually attend.
– Open Communication: Government is accountable to you. I will prioritize making all county
business, minutes, and decisions easily accessible online and in person.
– Active Listening: Trust is built through dialogue. I am committed to hearing all sides of an
issue before a vote, not after. Your voice should guide the decisions that shape our community. - Local Control & Short-Term Rentals (STRs)
The Goal: Protecting our neighborhoods while respecting property rights.
We need to push back against “one-size-fits-all” mandates from Boise. Bear Lake
problems require Bear Lake solutions. If current legislation goes through we will lose all local control.
-Balanced Growth: I will work to find the balance between protecting private property rights
and ensuring that STRs do not overwhelm our local infrastructure or change the character of
our communities.
-Impact Fees: Ensuring that the costs of increased tourism and infrastructure wear-and-tear
are managed fairly. - Infrastructure, Roads & Bridges
The Goal: Finding creative solutions to bridge the 25% budget gap from the state.
– Proactive Maintenance: A 25% cut in the road budget is a challenge, but neglect is more
expensive. I will look for creative ways to prevent costly long-term damage to our roads.
– Protecting Your Property: Poor roads don’t just affect the county; they cause unnecessary
wear and tear on your personal vehicles and slow down our emergency services. - -Efficiency First: When funds are tight, every dollar must be maximized. I will bring a
business-minded eye to the county budget to ensure your tax dollars are spent where they are
needed most.

About Lance Fitzsimmons
A Business-Minded Leader for Bear Lake County
Many of you know my wife, Kalene Hillier Fitzsimmons; she was born and raised here and remains my greatest source of inspiration. Together, through hard work and a refusal to give up, we built a business in Geneva that has allowed us to support our family and contribute to our local community. My mother taught me that “can’t” is a four-letter word. I have lived through many instances where giving up seemed like the easy option, but I chose to find a way forward. In the business world—specifically navigating the complexities of the Amazon marketplace and global competition—I
learned that if you don’t prioritize your customers and protect your integrity, you won’t survive. I am a problem solver, not a bureaucrat. I believe that someone with practical business experience is an asset to our county. In my business, I have learned to delegate to experts—whether in production, accounting, or marketing—so I can focus on the big picture. I intend to bring that same efficiency to the County.
In Bear Lake County, you are the customer, and you deserve to be treated as such. Politics can be brutal, but I promise you this: no gaslighting and no empty promises. I support the Idaho GOP Platform and the relentless spirit of President Trump who never gives up, even in adversity from his own party. If the people of Bear Lake County elect me to District 2, I will listen, I will communicate, and I will work tirelessly for you.
Should the people of Bear Lake County choose to elect me to District 2 Commissioner, I promise to attend as many Commissioner’s meetings as I possibly can before my term starts to be aware of current issues being considered. You also have my word that I will listen and communicate with you. I have provided multiple ways we can communicate below.
